Curbside is efficient for experienced travelers. Meet-and-greet is better for clients, families, international arrivals, or anyone who wants a more guided handoff.

SFO to FiDi, Union Square, Palo Alto, or San Jose each requires different timing assumptions. Travel time varies by traffic.

Use the airport meeting information correctly

SFO publishes suggested meeting points by terminal and explains that arriving passengers cannot be met at the gate. These are reference points for agreeing a handoff, rather than a universal loading location for every reserved vehicle. Check the terminal in your flight information, then confirm the meeting level and instructions with the provider on your reservation.

The airport lists meeting points near the B Gate exits, on the Departures/Ticketing Level for C and D Gate arrivals, and on the Arrivals/Baggage Claim Level between Baggage Carousels 3 and 4 for E and F Gate arrivals. It also lists an E Gate meeting point on Departures. International arrivals have a signed meeting point in the Arrivals lobby at the Customs and Immigration exit. Be ready before the vehicle approaches

SFO limits terminal curbside to active passenger pickup and drop-off and prohibits vehicles from waiting there or on airport roadways. Collect checked bags and finish any arrival formalities before telling the coordinator you are ready to load. A landing alert alone does not mean the passenger can leave the terminal immediately.

Keep the traveler’s reachable mobile number on the reservation, especially if an assistant booked the ride. If the flight changes or the traveler exits through a different door, contact the coordinator before moving to another level. Do not assume taxi islands, app pickup areas, and a reserved chauffeur use the same meeting arrangement. The confirmation should identify the correct process for your vehicle.

Plan the complete airport itinerary

A city transfer and a day of retained transportation are different requests. For a direct journey, include the final hotel or office entrance and any stop needed on the way. For a meeting day, add every address, approximate meeting length, and the expected end of service. The quote should reflect the complete itinerary rather than the first drop-off alone.

Include the number and type of bags, mobility requirements, and any requested child seats before the vehicle class is confirmed. For onward travel to Palo Alto, San Jose, Marin, Napa, or Sonoma, preserve flexibility around traffic instead of attaching a guaranteed arrival time to the airport leg. Review waiting, changes, and the final price in writing before accepting the reservation.
